We’re looking for an experienced Copywriter to join the Brand Team at Extra to help not only guide, but provoke and expand our brand’s tone of voice. One of our biggest strengths has been the fact that we are a true creative team working in a fintech arena. We’ve done a pretty good job at standing out and differentiating ourselves from the rest - but we want to take that to the next level, and truly lead the category not only with our products, but as a brand.
You’ll be an integral part of our Brand Team in helping define the voice for the brand, guide other teammates in bringing that voice to life, and work across a variety of assets and channels where the brand shows up.
The fun and exciting challenge that comes with creating a product that makes the credit system accessible to anyone, is figuring out all the different ways to convey this new reality to everyone...especially those who need our product most and don’t even know it yet. The ultimate goal of the Extra Brand Studio, is to reinvent the perception of credit in this country by intriguing, educating and showing people what is now possible, and making sure that our brand can voice that POV with every chance we get.
What you’ll do
Maintain and expand on brand tone guidelines to be used for all internal and external touch points.
Build relationships as a trusted partner alongside our internal teams to develop the creative direction and content strategy of campaigns, using your knowledge of trends and cultural movements to guide your perspective
Deeply understand the consumer and brand strategy to best serve campaign messaging across product, social and advertising
Partnering closely with Creative Director on strategy briefs to bring campaigns to life
Oversee copy efforts across departments to ensure that brand standards are being met
Manage the majority of day to day copy related decision-making on behalf of the brand
Help innovate, expand, and provoke the general tone of voice for the brand on an ongoing basis and ensure a category-leading level of taste, quality, and execution
Passion for writing, strong communication skills and a mastery of the English language
Minimum Basic Requirements
4+ years of experience as a copywriter for consumer product brands
Experience working with non-creative departments in a highly matrixed environment
A deep understanding of the youth cultural language
Results oriented, energetic and a strong desire to succeed - for the team and the company
A portfolio of work and copy examples you are proud of across categories/industries - demonstrating ideas, copy and best practices across various media.
Experience working with Slack and Notion
Desire to continuously improve in an evolving environment
Readiness to set brand tone, and promote those principles across the org
A passion for and knowledge of the youth culture - music, art, sports, and fashion
Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels of both internal and client organizations
Degree in an arts discipline preferred
